Quantachrome Instruments has released research which shows how filtration techniques can improve the air quality of the atmosphere.
Earlier this week, the laboratory technology firm published four new technotes, which discuss the different air filters by capillary flow porometry.
This research can be used to determine the use of filters and membranes which can be implemented in a way that results in good air quality.
The porometers measure pore size distributions with increasing pressure. For air quality in particular, the 3G-macro porometer is favoured as it has low pressure and high flow rate capabilities, which means that it is better used for woven and non-woven materials such as air filters, as well as diapers and breathable fabrics.
Other parameters can also be used for water treatment and medical devices.
As well as conducting research into pore size, Quantachrome produces instruments that can be used for representative sampling and water vapour sorption.
