A cycle initiative has been launched in Wales in an attempt to improve
air quality and protect the environment.
Earlier this week, Cycle Training Wales opened their new project called Cardiff Cycle Workshop, which will recycle old used bikes into fixed ready-to-use ones.
It was opened by the minister of environment, sustainability and housing Jane Davidson, who said the project is "inspiring".
She stated that by reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfills, it is a positive step for the environment.
"By cycling more and using our cars less we can cut down on our carbon emissions and significantly reduce Wales' footprint," she added, noting that if more people cycle, the local
air quality will improve.
People will be able to hand in their old bikes which will then be fixed and enable residents to have access to cheaper, working cycles through the project.
Cardiff Council also confirmed this week that it has extended the deadline for its Sustainable City Travel Plan scheme, which will help fund staff cycle initiatives.
