Soil testing
Understanding how soils produce, use, and exchange greenhouse gases is critical for advancing climate and ecosystem research. With more than 20 years of experience and 4, N2O, CO2, and CO2 isotope flux data with the accuracy, consistency, and low impact on natural soil processes that your work demands.
LI-COR offers both survey and long-term solutions that include the hardware, software, and analysers necessary for extensive research and testing. Together, these components make up reliable and flexible systems that can be tailored to meet a wide variety of needs.
LI-COR survey systems, for instance, allow for the rapid surveying of fluxes, depending on your soil gas of interest. Survey systems pair the self-powered Smart Chamber with your gas analyser of choice—ultimately taking rapid, trusted, and real-time measurements across a given site. In addition, built-in Wi-Fi and GPS logging allow you to measure quickly multiple locations, making it an ideal solution for spatial variability mapping or for sites where continuous stations are difficult or impossible to install.
For extended deployments, LI-COR long-term systems provide continuous, automated measurements for weeks, months, or even years. At the core of every long-term system is the LI-8250 Multiplexer, which connects the analysers and up to 36 chambers together. Analysers are offered for CH4, N2O, CO2, and CO2 soil isotopes, while chambers include both opaque and clear options that can cover a footprint up to 52 cm. Together, these long-term systems help you assess temporal variations, event-driven flux changes, and seasonal patterns across large footprints—up to 2,800 square metres.
SoilFluxPro Software is the powerful and free software behind LI-COR soil gas flux solutions. Pulling data from LI-COR and third-party analysers and using built-in post-processing tools, SoilFluxPro allows users to easily view and optimise survey and long-term datasets. Quickly access and revise data, recompute large batches of information, perform quality assurance and quality control, and more.
SoilFluxPro also helps improve insights into your site with GPS-enabled mapping and advanced guidance tools. Its intuitive interface, customisable displays, and efficient data tools make SoilFluxPro a powerful and essential member of LI-COR soil gas flux systems—turning robust measurements into dependable, publication-ready outputs.
Whether you are assessing carbon, tracking greenhouse gas emissions, or quantifying soil responses to environmental change, LI-COR Soil Gas Flux Systems deliver the dependable data needed to advance your research, one gas flux measurement at a time.
