SOMMER Messtechnik is expanding its radar sensor equipment to the water and wastewater market. The new SOMMER SQ Flow Meter Series measures reliably and without direct contact to the (waste) water both, the water level and the flow velocity. With the cross section profile given and based on an advanced, self-adapting hydraulic model, the smart sensor conveniently outputs your actual and exact discharge rates at all times. With the different sensor types SQ-3, SQ-6 and SQ-8R according to the maximum water level to be measured, the SQ Series is most suitable for installations in wastewater, sewer systems and for open channel flow measurement.

More than three decades of experience in hydrology and environmental monitoring build the ground for SOMMER’s newest innovations. The SQ is suggested for all kinds of open technical channels as well as semi-filled pipes and ducts, where submerged type sensors frequently fail due to soiling and deposits on the equipment. Incorporating the latest radar and ultrasonic technology the SQ Flow Meter however ensures reliable measurements avoiding direct contact with the water. Consequently expenses for maintenance and service are reduced to a minimum. The sensor can be installed very easily from above the water body (e.g. on a cross-beam) where it is to be reached much easier too.

Various interface connections like SDI-12, RS 485, Modbus, Profibus, analogue or pulse signal guarantee a trouble-free implementation into new or also existing systems. The SQ Flow Meter certainly is a must-have flow monitoring equipment to all responsible in water management, sewage systems and wastewater treatment plants.
