The new and innovative SQ Flow Meter developed by SOMMER Messtechnik allows to measure the discharge and flow rate of technical channels, semi-filled pipes, ducts, and shafts without even touching the water. Ever since it’s been a challenge to measure flow without going into the water. This new sensor proofs different. It uses the latest radar and ultrasonic technology to permanently capture the water level and the flow velocity. Based on an advanced hydraulic model and according to the actual water level, the SQ then is able to calculate the exact flow rate of the waterbody.

Based on SOMMER’s long lasting experience in hydrology and environmental monitoring the new SQ is especially dedicated for wastewater and sewage applications. Temporarily submersible, with a tight and water-proof housing that is resistant to also aggressive environments and fluids, it is a perfect fit for wastewater treatment plants as well as industrial applications and monitoring of cooling or process water. There is not mounting-construction inside the water needed and different interface connections such as RS-485, SDI-12, Modbus, pulse signal or analogue signal allow an easy system integration with any PLC.
