Increased Safety during Installation and Maintenance with New Flow Meter

With the new SQ radar flow meter SOMMER Messtechnik (Austria) presents its latest and very promising product innovation. The discharge monitoring instrument was developed for applications in storm or wastewater, sewer systems or any other technical channel (ducts, irrigation, process water etc.). However, due to strict safety regulations installations in sewer channels can be quite delicate sometimes. For this reason SOMMER designed a special and convenient mounting bracket. It allows a quick and simple installation of the SQ flow meter in the sewer and most importantly even without the need to enter the manhole itself. As a result the safety for the staff is significantly increased. In addition, the sensor can also be easily accessed or pulled out again. It is possible to adjust the bracket for different opening diameters, depths and positions of the sensor in the manhole. The person in charge can always remain on the surface and hence will not be affected by toxic gases or aggressive and harmful wastewater deposits.

Once the SQ is installed safely, it accurately and reliably monitors the current discharge quantities. The new sensor measures contact-free both, the surface flow velocity and the water depth. It therefore can be comfortably installed outside of the body of water. The device itself – although water-proof and submergible – remains free from deposits and consequently needs less maintenance. The new SQ flow meter helps municipalities and other local authorities to monitor their wastewater and sewer systems to be prepared for events of heavy storm water or floods.
