New laser-based PPM gas analysis for environmental monitoring

17 Jun, 2026

Gas analyses in the ppm range are becoming increasingly important in environmental measurement technology. Wi.Tec-Sensorik GmbH has developed a laser-based OEM gas measurement module for these applications. The SPECTRO.sens utilises tunable laser diode absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), which offers extremely good zero-point stability and detection limits below 1 ppm.

The CH₄-SPECTRO.sens, integrated into a thermobox, is currently available. Due to the high selectivity of the TDLAS technique, CH₄ measurements can be performed even in the presence of high hydrocarbon concentrations without significant cross-sensitivity.

Further gases such as NH₃, CO₂, H₂O, etc. will follow. Furthermore, the SPECTRO.sens can be combined with the well-known INFRA.sens and ULTRA.sens modules, enabling multi-gas analysis.
