Smarter emissions monitoring for a low-carbon future

21 Aug, 2025

Industries need to overcome the dual pressures of regulatory compliance and climate responsibility, therefore Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) have become an essential technology. Designed to provide accurate, real-time data on pollutants such as CO₂, NOₓ, SO₂, and particulate matter, CEMS enable operators to stay ahead of tightening standards across Europe, North America, and beyond.

The challenge for energy and process companies is not simply measuring emissions, but managing vast streams of data, ensuring availability, and meeting complex regulatory frameworks, from EN17255 to US EPA Part 60/75 and other global, regional legislation. Availability demands are high: under current EPA criteria, systems need to operate 95% of the time, limiting downtime to just 18 days a year. Against this backdrop, many older CEMS installations are reaching obsolescence, raising both compliance issues and operational costs.

Hint Global’s AML-CEMS software platform has been developed to address these challenges. By consolidating data processing, validation, and reporting into a single intelligent system, AML-CEMS streamlines the compliance challenge. It automatically calculates corrected concentrations, supports uncertainty and bias tracking, and generates regulatory-ready reports across multiple jurisdictions.  It includes features such as automated alarm management, audit logging, and database backfilling enhance reliability, while flexible connectivity ensures integration across plant and IT environments.

AML-CEMS is far more than just a compliance tool; it empowers end-users to extract insights that support efficiency, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life. By transforming emissions data into actionable intelligence, it helps companies align environmental and business objectives, thereby saving time, cutting costs, and supporting long-term sustainability goals.
