Rapid and precise lab-on-a-chip water analysis – all from a little Panda!

The PANDa, from Klearia, – or Portable ANalyzer track for metal Detection – is built around unique, patented microfluidics technology; it detects trace harmful heavy metals in drinking, process and industrial water from 1 µg/L validated on real matrices. This highly sophisticated and precise analyser offers users laboratory precision in the field within 30 minutes.

PANDa, through its smart monitoring technology, can make it possible to more effectively treat the presence of micro-pollutants in water. It can make it possible to increase closed-loop recycling and thus reduce water withdrawals.

The automated PANDa is extremely user-friendly and operators can use the device without the need for training – it also requires virtually no maintenance.

Minuturised ‘Lab-on-a-Chip’ technology has been widely used in medical diagnostic applications for many years; PANDa has given this cutting-edge technology to the water industry. Klearia developed PANDa based on this Lab-on-a-Chip technology, thereby providing miniature laboratories with reusable materials saving the costs associated with conventional systems using disposable consumables and therefore catering for technicians performing industrial on-site and real-time water analysis.

Klearia designed the PANDa as an all-in-one cartridge, that has a very low consumption of chemicals, which are stored inside the cartridge, and therefore generates minimal waste, which is reprocessed by KLEARIA.

In 2022, Klearia secured the backing of the EIC Accelerator program to enhance the PANDa technology. Presently, Klearia are actively seeking industrial use cases to initiate pilot implementations.
