Logging and telemetry device alleviates the inconvenience of mixing and matching different water quality measurement sensors

30 Aug, 2024

Working with telemetry devices that have been designed to work with sensors from several different manufacturers can be very complicated and frustrating both for the provider and the end user. Aquaread has developed Aquatel to simplify and streamline the entire setup and installation procedures. Aquaread also took into consideration the importance of the data being recorded; with its cotemporary design, the Inoview by nke provides an attractive and completely functional web platform for end-users to observe their data. The platform includes an active map using the Aquatel’s integral GPS, traffic light monitors to indicate battery level and position drifting if deployed on a buoy, and manipulatable graphs whereby a variety of parameters can be overlaid on the same plot to discover trend change correlations.

Aquatel will recognise the connected probe that it is connected to as well as all additional sensors fitted to the probe; there is no set up necessary – it is simply plug and play throughout the entire process until the data is displayed in Inoview. Deployment of Aquatel is a formality; operators can choose alkali or lithium batteries to keep the system flexible.

When the Aquatel is actiivated it will connect to the mobile network and provide the user with an LED notification of the connected network’s signal strength. When connected all settings can be updated by sending sms messages to the Aquatel. When a message is sent to activate the GPS, the operator will receive a ‘GPS connected’ confirmation message and a connection has successfully been made to the network. The operator then needs to simply send Aquatel the word ‘Readings’, and it will respond with the current measurements from the connected probe. Once the values have been checked and they are at acceptable levels the operator can deploy the probes and exit the site.
