New optical water analysers for critical measurement in real-time launched at WEFTEC 2024
Oct 15 2024
ABB introduced the UviTec™ analyser product family at the recent WEFTEC 2024 in New Orleans. UviTec is the successor to Real Tech's optical sensor technology, which ABB acquired in February.
UviTec is a complete optical-based monitoring platform for water quality built around patented and proprietary technologies. It includes optical sensors, controllers, a suite of add-on accessories, and a data analytics and software solution.
By utilising highly advanced spectrophotometric and fluorescence measuring techniques, UviTec provides lab-quality water analysis results in the process environment. Thanks to UV/VIS technology, UviTec delivers fast detection of a broad range of water quality parameters and compounds in real-time. The UviTec Liquid Ai data analytics and software platform provides plant operators with actionable insights using the measurements obtained, thereby improving how water and wastewater are managed.
Jon Penn, ABB Measurement & Analytics’ Global Product Line Manager for Continuous Water Analysis, commented, “Unlike traditional water quality testing which can take days in lab conditions, the products in the UviTec family provide critical measurements immediately. The UviTec biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) analyser used for measuring organic levels in water delivers accurate results in five seconds, instead of five days like traditional lab-testing, saving time and money while improving safety and efficiency.”
