Gas Detection
CatEx sensor enables precise and reliable multi-gas detection for industrial environments
Feb 22 2023
Dräger has unveiled its latest breakthrough in gas detection technology with the release of the Dräger X-am 2800 multi-gas detector, equipped with the newly engineered CatEx sensor. The device is optimised for use with the cloud-based software solution, Dräger Gas Detection Connect, providing efficient fleet management for businesses of all sizes.
The X-am 2800 multi-gas detector is specifically designed to simultaneously measure up to four gases. Users can choose from a range of sensors for flammable gases and vapours, oxygen, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulphide, nitrogen dioxide, and sulphur dioxide. With its small size and low weight, the X-am 2800 can be worn conveniently on a clip, providing carrying comfort, robustness, and reliability.
The newly engineered CatEx sensor is particularly shock-resistant and can be configured for a variety of flammable vapours and gases, including gasoline, diesel, nonane, methane, propane, and hydrogen. This new sensor technology is especially resistant to poisonous substances, making it ideal for use in industrial environments where gas-related hazards are prevalent.
The X-am 2800 is equipped with a prominent display featuring a language-free user interface that clearly shows gas readings, alarms, and the time. Its large buttons make it easy to use while wearing gloves, and the device features a green status light (D-light) to indicate when the unit is ready for use. Approved for use in Ex zone 0, the X-am 2800 has also been tested according to protection class IP68 and confirmed by a drop test, withstanding a fall of more than 2 meters (6 feet) thanks to its resilient design.
Accessories from the popular Dräger X-am series are compatible with the X-am 2800, including the charger, X-dock station, and calibration adapter. The durable Dräger sensors and the rechargeable, easy-to-replace power supply ensure the device remains operational for many years. Moreover, the X-am 2800 was engineered with sustainability in mind, with technical documentation and packaging designed to save paper, and the number of instruction manuals reduced when ordering two or more units in the modular version. Dräger also ensures the proper recycling of disused devices.
