A woman from Goodwill in Clarke County, Virginia received a nasty surprise earlier this week after being taken to a landfill site.

The 48-year-old had reportedly climbed into the bin on Wednesday and was unable to get out.

Commenting on the incident, Robert Eckman of the county sheriff's office said the woman was unharmed during the incident and was fortunate not to have been collected by a truck that compresses waste.

"She was very lucky; she could have lost her life. The only thing she asked for is a ride back to Goodwill," he added.

In related news, an Isreali woman made the headlines last month after accidentally throwing away a mattress containing $1 million (£700,000).

The lady, known only as Anat, had bought her mother a new bed as a surprise and thrown away her old one – not knowing that it contained her life savings.
