A man in his 50s has died and several police officers have been taken to hospital following a chemical alert on a farm in Surrey.

According to the BBC, a "noxious substance" was found at the dwelling.

Medics responding to an emergency call reportedly found a man suffering from breathing problems in the early hours of this morning.

Despite resuscitation attempts he died at the scene.

A police spokesman commented: "One person - a man in his 50s - was found at the premises and it was apparent some sort of noxious substance was present at the scene which is currently being investigated."

The 76-acre site is said to be conservation centre and is home to rare breeds of animals and wildlife.

Meanwhile, 11 workers in Flintshire were transported to hospital last week following a chemical leak on an industrial estate. A further 22 people were treated for vomiting, eye infections and breathing difficulties.
