The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued its very own wanted list, it has been revealed.

Including the names of the country's worst polluters the list calls for them to step forward to face the environmental consequences of their actions, reported the Irish Independent newspaper.

A total of 23 polluting fugitives are included on the EPA's website, all of whom have fled the US after allegedly committing the offences.

Some of the crimes committed include causing a plane to crash and asbestos violations, which threatened health on a large scale.

Assistant administrator at the EPA Granta Nakayama explained that the list highlights the seriousness of environmentally damaging crimes.

"We thought it would be helpful to enlist the public's assistance in tracking these fugitives down."

In other environmental news, air pollution in the Turkish cit of Ankara was declared by the country's Environment and Forest Ministry to be far too high this week, reported Hurriyet.
