The recent G20 summit in Canada has been criticised by experts for not making enough of a contribution towards reducing climate change.

Earlier this week, world leaders met up in Canada to discuss the future of green recovery.

However, environmental groups such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) have since suggested that there was not enough dedication towards climate finance, clean energy or renewable fuels by the nations.

WWF Global Climate Change Initiative's Kim Carstensen said: "The world leaders are still painting the economy in black and white. But the 21st century economy must include green."

She added that the meeting could have seen the start of a "clean, efficient and resilient economy" but failed to do so.

Ms Carstensen stated that the summit in Pittsburgh last year committed the leaders to phasing out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies, but the recent assembly "failed to take the next step".

More than 900 people were arrested in Toronto during the summit after demonstrators protested against the decisions of government officials.
