European leaders should continue to fight against climate change, according to a report.
Bjorn Lomborg, environmental author, has criticised European leaders' actions in reducing the effects of climate change, saying that it would cost more than £39 billion a year for the EU to meet carbon emission targets.
Writing for the Daily Telegraph, Mr Lomborg added that this figure was "implausibly optimistic" and the figure is more likely to come in at £90 billion a year.
He said that Europe should continue its fight against climate change and not waste money on red tape and constraints.
One suggestion the expert gave the newspaper was to invest in developing technology for green energy alternatives, which could replace fossil fuels if their technology improved.
A report released from responsible investment research specialist EIRIS suggested that European companies needed to invest more to have a signify ant impact in reducing CO2 levels and fighting climate change.
