The government needs to address issues in the
environmental legislation to help boost the green energy industry, it has been said.
Mike Childs, head of the climate change campaign at Friends of the Earth, stated that the coalition needs to agree on how to make its offshore wind plans happen in practice.
He said it still has to sort out a few issues with regards to the
environmental legislation, such as having a long-term goal for marine energy and reducing some of the risk of using renewables.
Mr Childs went on to suggest it sets up a Green Investment Bank in the UK, which would put money into environmentally-friendly technologies, noting that this would encourage investors to have confidence in the industry.
The government has begun to make advances in boosting the green energy market and earlier this month secretary of state for energy and climate change Chris Huhne announced a study into the feed-in tariff scheme to encourage environmentally-friendly energy goals.
