The recent changes to
environmental legislation have been praised as being a positive development to improve the energy efficiency of the housing stock in the UK.
Minister of state for climate change Gregory Barker has said that the investment outlined in the Comprehensive Spending Review last week shows the government's "absolute commitment" to the environment in Britain.
He stated: "We are going to prioritise the investment in our green future and put in place the infrastructure that we need."
In the Comprehensive Spending Review, chancellor George Osborne confirmed the government will allocate £1 billion for green investments.
He stated that the
environmental legislation changes will also encourage families to reduce their bills by promoting energy efficiency of properties.
Mr Barker added that the investment can be used to ensure that the Green Deal is successful, which will see money being put into renewable heat technologies to improve the energy efficiency of homes around the country and achieve the "maximum amount of carbon reduction".
