Marks and Spencer is set to roll out a series of new environmental measures in a bid to become one of the world's greenest retailers.
The company said it plans to extend targets set in 2007 and ensure that at least 50 per cent of its products are sustainably sourced by 2015, GreenWise reports.
Furthermore, the retailer has pledged £50 million over the next five years to help support the development of innovative products and services.
M&S chairman Sir Stuart Rose said the company has already saved a considerable amount of money and improved the lives of many people by boosting efficiency levels in recent years.
"We've now set ourselves the ambitious target of becoming the world's most sustainable retailer by 2015, so that we lead the way in making a positive contribution to the environment and society across everything we do and everything we sell," he added.
