Experts in
environmental analysis are planning to meet next week in an attempt to dispel myths about green investments.
The UK Sustainable Investment and Finance (UKSIF) has invited journalists to a conference on Wednesday (September 29th 2010) from 09:30 to 11:00 BST to listen to leading industry figures talk about the "changing face of green and ethical investments".
Among the topics to be covered are discussing the misperceptions about investing in green technology, as well as talking about the new trends that are making financial advisors and retail investors interested in putting money into environmentally-friendly funds.
"Green and ethical investments have become a hot topic in recent months following the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico," the UKSIF said.
It also revealed that by June 2010 £9.5 billion had been invested in green funds, up from £2.4 billion in 1999.
Last month, general manager of the Carbon Trust Footprinting company Euan Murray advised businesses to invest more money into energy efficient office equipment in order to reduce their carbon footprint.
