Firms may need to supply more
environmental analysis in order to prove their sustainability agenda to consumers.
This is after Alex Randall, spokesman for the Centre for Alternative Technology, stated that companies need to do more to convince customers they are doing their bit to tackle climate change.
He stated that consumers want to see action, saying: "The public aren't stupid … I think they will remain unconvinced until they see actual evidence of companies taking it seriously."
This comes after the Carbon Trust revealed last week that seven per cent of consumers trust firms when they say they are helping to combat climate change by reducing their impact on the atmosphere.
Mr Randall noted that not enough businesses are doing what they can to help the environment, which could include improving
air quality by reducing their carbon emissions.
He went on to suggest that firms should measure their emission levels, so that they can start coming up with ways to reduce them.
