Increasing numbers of motorists are taking CO2 emissions and the environment into account when buying new cars, an expert has said.
Managing director of Carbon Footprint John Buckley explained that "more and more people" are looking at the "CO2 emissions and the miles per gallon" of their potential new vehicles.
He also highlighted that, at present, people are "very concerned about costs" and are opting for cars which use less fuel - a move which simultaneously benefits the environment.
As concern for CO2 emissions grows and greener technologies evolve, buying eco-friendly cars is becoming increasingly important for many people, Mr Buckley added.
A recent poll undertaken by Auto Trader found that 51 per cent of motorists are considering purchasing a car which has green credentials and a further 42 per cent said that they would ensure that their next car emits less CO2 than their current vehicle.
