The government's new Budget needs to pay attention to
environmental analysis in order to make a difference in reducing the amount of energy used in the country, it has been suggested.
Andrew Leech, director at the National Home Improvement Council, stated that when chancellor George Osborne announces the Budget tomorrow (March 23rd 2011), it should have provisions for encouraging energy-saving measures in households.
He stated that in order to boost the number of people who have energy-efficient properties, more money needs to be made available in order to create the jobs to do this.
"If [Mr Osborne] sticks some rather nasty things on [the Budget], then maybe [people] won't be able to afford to upgrade their homes," Mr Leech noted.
He went on to say improving energy-efficiency is the most important enhancement property owners can make these days.
Indeed, more households are considering making energy-saving changes to their houses as Trades Supermarket reported last week that property upgrades are going to increase over the next few months as more people are remaining in their homes for longer.
