There needs to be adjustments to the way the UK government invests in carbon technologies, according to an expert.
Earlier this week, the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) advised the government that there should be a change in
environmental legislation to move towards protecting the funding of low-carbon technologies.
The group said that if they were developed more they could help to reduce carbon emissions by 80 per cent before 2050.
One of the supporters for the CCC's suggestions was the Green Party, which said that it would "wholeheartedly agree" with most of the group's points.
However, it added that the UK could not drive towards a low-carbon economy on aviation or carbon capture and storage (CCS).
A spokesperson for the party said: "CCS is the wrong technology for the UK. We're facing a recession as well as a climate crisis and we need a lot of jobs urgently."
He added that the Green Party's 2010 manifesto supported the move towards environmental technology, which included calling for direct government investment in large-scale renewable energies.
