Businesses could be encouraged to undertake a process of
environmental analysis on improving their green policies after it was suggested that by doing so, they could save money.
Product manager at NEC Chris Parker said that the main obstacles to adopting environmentally-friendly IT in firms is the cost.
However, he stated: "If your eco message means saving money, producing less power and going green, you're on to a winner."
Tim Oliver, public sector sales manager at NEC, added that some companies "appreciate the value that the green products will have".
He recognised though, that most of the time firms will be motivated by costs.
Mr Oliver added that if companies believe it will incur a greater expense to adopt green policies, they will be less inclined to do so.
However, Mr Parker added that having environmentally-friendly procedures is about "sustainability and life cycles".
Their comments come after research carried out on behalf of Kyocera Mita revealed that it is now easier to get environmental policies on to companies' IT agenda than it was two years ago.
