Advances in technology will prove to be key in the battle to improve
air quality across the UK, it has been suggested.
This is the view of British Land, which has stated that more developments are required if the government is to meet its emission reduction targets.
Head of planning and corporate responsibility at the organisation Adrian Penfold believes that while advances need to be made, technology that is currently available can still go a long way in reducing emissions from homes and businesses.
Indeed, smart meters could be central to the government's ambitious plans, while the Green Deal - which will see loans issued to homeowners so they can insulate their abodes - can also make a difference.
"We clearly need improvements in technology," commented Mr Penfold.
"But I think that a huge amount can be achieved with the technology that we have got."
This comes after the Department of Energy & Climate Change announced specific emission reduction targets for the years between 2023 and 2027 earlier this week (May 17th 2011).
