At ILM's Air Quality and Emissions (AQE) event, Dr. David Green of Imperial College London gave an introduction to the work of the Britain's new supersite network which continuously monitors all sorts of air pollutants at high-resolution. In his presentation, he covers:

  • What is the purpose of the supersite network?
  • Where are the different supersites located?
  • What instrumentation do the supersites use to measure which gases?
  • What instrumentation is used to measure which aerosols?
  • Discovering sources of air pollution using the supersite network
  • Investigating non-exhaust emissions
  • What time-resolution are the supersites running?
  • Will capacity to switch between measuring PM2.5 and measuring PM10 be available at all supersites in the network?
  • Will there be comparison studies with other UK networks?
  • What happens with the historical data when monitors switch from CEMIS to CAPS for NO2?
  • Assimilating ammonia data
