A Clever Operating Mode with a Capillaries type Gas Divider Allow Continuous Choice of Dilution Ratio.

Nov 20 2013

A strong revolution arrives with BetaCAP30 gas divider.

Actual devices have the possibility of many dilution rates with the capillaries number or their combination number: actually, you have to select the dilution you wants in a limited number of available steps.

In fact the standard operation mode of the gas divider BetaCAP30 from BE.T.A. Strumentazione (Italy) requires selecting one of the 31 available dilution ratios, but with this device a second operation mode is available; selecting in a continuous way, the output diluted concentration.

This “clever” mode is kept possible by the electronic regulation of the pressures across the capillaries on the two sides of the gas divider (gas to be diluted side and diluting gas side). In this mode, the pressures ratio is automatically adjusted in a way to correct the dilution ratio covering the intervals between the standard dilution steps. The calculation of this pressures ratio also compensates for the effects of different viscosities and of the certified errors (due to non perfect equality of the capillaries size).

With this operation mode the range of available dilutions is continuous from 1,66% up to 98,33%. With the optional prescaler 1:100, the range of available dilutions is continuous from 0,0166% up to 98,33% (plus 0 and 100%).

The prescaler 1:100 is an option, automatically managed (inserted/bypassed) according to requirements. It’s installed internally in the rack version BetaCAP30RK or externally with the compact version.

Generally the prescaler is activated for testing air quality analysers (ppb ranges) using test gas bottles with span gases in the range of many hundreds ppm (faster, cheaper and much more stable than test gases with lower concentration).
