The World Meteorological Organization’s Executive Council recently agreed on two major strategic proposals to set up a greenhouse gas monitoring system and to make sure that early warning services are available for everyone within the next five years and

The Executive Council agreed these proposals at its June 20-24 session to boost weather, climate, water and environmental services to meet the growing demand for precise and up-to-date monitoring of weather, climate, water and environmental parameters to protect society and the planet itself..

WMO Secretary-General Prof. Petteri Taalas  stated, “These flagship initiatives will strengthen WMO’s commitment to the international agenda on climate action and disaster risk reduction and will play a pivotal role in informing climate change mitigation and adaptation to increasingly extreme weather.”
