A large UK Water Company uses Merck Ammonium test kits (1.11117.0001) exclusively available from VWR (UK) to carry out a quick on site test when problems at treatment works and pumping stations occur. Engineers carry out Ammonium tests to check that none of the untreated water has escaped in to the environment, giving an early warning should any preventative action be required. Any positive results are sent to an accredited laboratory for confirmation. This kit provides the engineers with a simple, quick and inexpensive way of checking that the job has been completed successfully or if further work is required. The kit requires no training and has been fully validated so that only those samples showing unacceptably high results require confirmatory analysis. This Merck Ammonium kit has been used to help prevent pollution incidents which is good for the environment but also reduces the chance of any fines being bought by the Environment Agency.
