Lovibond® Tintometer® has initiated an agreement with a leading UK specialist in the disposal of laboratory wastes. The new agreement ensures the disposal of spent COD vials for Lovibond Tintometer customers in the most environmentally sensitive method.

Lovibond Tintometer’s disposal partners collect from all areas of the UK on regular "milk rounds". This optimises the use of vehicles to keep emissions to a minimum and, of course, transport costs down. The vials are collated and treated by high temperature incineration in the UK. Unlike alternative services, Lovibond Tintometer does not export the waste for treatment. In this way, the company saves thousands of vehicle miles per year thereby reducing environmental impact.

“We are delighted to have found such an ecologically-aware company to work with,” states Marke Reid of Lovibond Tintometer. “We strive to ensure that our products and processes have no detrimental impact on our environment and the disposal of vials forms an extremely important part of this practice.”

Incineration is an environmentally friendly disposal method that releases zero hazardous emissions into the atmosphere. Unlike recycling, high temperature incineration does not require the addition of thousands of litres of chemicals to either neutralise the contents of the vials or to wash the glass and plastic components.
