The new Cordonel® Ultrasonic Flow Meter from Sensus, a Xylem brand, helps water utilities, industries and agriculturalists better manage water distribution networks by accurately capturing and measuring water consumption, flow, temperature and pressure. The commercial and industrial (C&I) meter has no moving parts or obstruction to the flow and is maintenance-free over its operational lifetime.

“A more sustainable water future starts today by accurately accounting for and measuring every drop and identifying non-revenue water,” said Tom Mills, Director Strategic Customer Team at Sensus. “We designed Cordonel® to bring customers a reliable, accurate meter that scales with them into a digitally-enabled water distribution management system.”

The Cordonel® static flow meter goes beyond traditional meter reading to gather precise low and high flow data in real-time. The combination of advanced ultrasonic technology and integrated communications makes it a great C&I meter for both Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) with support for a variety of radio communications technologies.

The sturdy and reliable Cordonel® meter can help customers increase revenue, improve operational efficiency and save natural resources. This meter has the flexibility to accommodate virtually all commercial, industrial and agricultural needs, including horizontal and vertical pipe orientations with no straight upstream and downstream pipe required, even behind a 90-degree bend. It also features built-in communication technology that eliminates the need to maintain and replace the separate meter and radio devices on staggered schedules. Cordonel can also be easily integrated with the Sensus FlexNet™ long-range radio solution. With accurate and reliable readings over its 20-year battery life—enabled by new technology that ensures all water entering passes through one of its three individual measuring paths and secure data transfer using 128 bit AES encryption, Cordonel will make a significant improvement to managing water distribution and management.

The new meter will be available in United Kingdom and Ireland from late November 2019 in diameter 50. Larger sizes, up to 300 mm, will follow over the next two years.
