New all-in-one pH and redox potential meter provides precise and reliable measurements for water and environmental applications

15 Jul, 2024

PCE Instruments offer a wide range of pH meters with different pH electrodes within its product portfolio to cater to a variety of environmental applications. PCE’s new PCE-PH 228 combined pH and redox potential measuring instrument is an extremely accurate instrument that can be used in the lab and for mobile applications.

This versatile device not only measures pH values and temperatures of various fluids but also the redox potential in millivolts (mV) by utilising an optional electrode.

Its high level of precision makes the PCE-PH 228 ideal for use in the lab. A significant advantage of the new meter is that it can be calibrated independently using a two-, three-, four- or five-point calibration, depending on the application; the PCE-PH 228 can be calibrated using a self-selected buffer solution. The instrument also features automatic temperature compensation. Thanks to the integral temperature sensor, the medium’s temperature is also determined and accounted for directly in the measurement result, rather than needing to be set manually.

The PCE-PH 228 can be used to measure redox potential in the lab, in water treatment facilities or for industrial applications such as for electroplating. Precise redox readings facilitate measuring the oxidation or reduction potential of a solution. The PCE-PH 228’s measurement range for redox voltage is -2000 to 2000 mV.

The measurement of the redox potential depends on the pH value, so the PCE-PH 228 offers an ideal solution as it provides a combination of both measurements. Users can switch between the two measurement parameters by simply replacing the sensor.

This instrument is used wherever water quality monitoring is necessary such as in swimming pools or water treatment facilities. It can also be used in a variety of other environmental applications. Another major advantage this device is that operators can create personal user accounts and therefore monitor which measurements were taken, and by whom. The PCE-PH 228 was developed to comply with GLP to fulfil a plethora of requirements. GLP compliance is guaranteed thanks to automatic data recording and traceable documentation. This device has a resolution that users can set from one to three decimal places. In addition, the measured values can be read out and analysed with PCE’s software.

The PCE-PH 228’s precision of ±0.002 pH + 2 digits, graphically guided calibration, GLP compliance, user and sample management and data storage make it the perfect test instrument for scientists, researchers and technicians in both the lab and the field who need accurate pH measurements. It not only enhances accuracy and efficiency of experiments but also simplifies everyday tasks in industry, quality assurance and labs.
