A typical application for the Coriolis Mass Flowmeter Promass 83 is in blending skids allowing the incoming flow of a number of ingredients to be tightly controlled, helping to maintain the quality of the finished product. As well as measuring mass flow, density and gases, Promass 83 can also measure viscosity in-line in real time. This opens up completely new perspectives in process control, quality assurance and plant protection. Mass flow, density and temperatuure can be used to derive other values such as volume flow, solids content, viscosity or concentrations and complex density functions.

EtherNet/IP capability for simplicity and interoperability

Some of the benefits of Coriolis Promass 83 with Rockwell software tool RS LogixTM 5000 and Factory Talk View as part of the Plant PA system are reduced network, simpler installation, seamless integration and reduced programming time. Promass 83 already encompasses PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus and MODBUS. With the addition of the EtherNet/IP capability, which extends commercial off-the-shelf Ethernet to the Common Industrial protocol (CIPTM), Promass 83 is even more attractive to machine skid builders in process industries as it gives the end user simplicity and speed of integration. It allows product developers, system integrators and users plug and play interoperability among devices from multiple vendors and multiple sub-nets. The unit requires no additional remote I/O devices or a separate fieldbus protocol to handle communications.

The EtherNet/IP interface gives users direct access to device data without additional configuration or programming. By using a standard, unmodified protocol this data can then be shared seamlessly and very easily across the entire network. It can be viewed via HMI´s or Ethernet networks in offices and control rooms.
