Oliver Grievson receives Lifelong Commitment Award

EURING Professor and associate director in asset management at AtkinsRéalis Oliver Grievson, has been the awarded the Presidential Award 2024 for Lifelong Commitment. 

The prestigious honour is a testament to his exceptional contributions and dedication over a lifetime, and his outstanding work in supporting CIWEM in a multitude of voluntary positions has been truly remarkable, according to Bushra Hussain, CIWEM President 2023-2024.

Oliver has been a member of CIWEM for almost 25 years and a Fellow since 2017, supporting CIWEM’s mission and objectives through volunteering for its Professional Standards Committee, professional development function and policy Specialist Panels and groups.

He was also recognised as a long-standing and valued Wastewater and Bioresources Panel Member and Member of the Urban Drainage Group and for valuable insight on water monitoring to the policy team in recent years, an issue which is gaining in importance.

The Lifelong Commitment Award is given to individuals who exemplify CIWEM's values, and was announced during the Presidential handover on Thursday October 10.

Oliver commented: “It’s an absolute privilege to be awarded the CIWEM Presidents Award for a Lifelong Commitment to the Institution. Getting involved with CIWEM as an industry expert working with both the wastewater committee and the professional standards committee has enabled to work with like-minded experts across the industry and has given me so many opportunities to work with a wide-variety of people over the past 25 years. 

“These many years of voluntary work have helped me to become the technical authority in regulatory monitoring and wastewater compliance that I currently am enabling to give back to the industry through CIWEM working with the policy community.”
