Alphasense (UK), specialist technology gas sensor manufacturer for safety and industrial markets, will be launching a series of new sensors, capable of very low detection levels (ppb/parts per billion) designed as a low cost alternative for Air Quality Networks as well as our traditional market sectors.
The sensors utilise 4-electrodes and selective nano-materials with detection levels typically as low as 10ppb (parts per billion), although with recommended electronics and quality low noise components this can be reduced to 2ppb or less.
Air Quality Networks require a number of standard sensors and Alphasense can supply the three major sensor types needed, inorganic gases (CO, H2S, NO, NO2, SO2, and O3), particulates/aerosols (PM10.0/PM2.5) and VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) others such as humidity, temperature, barometric pressure, wind speed and wind direction are also required.
Arthur Burnley, Sales & Marketing Director, stated, “We are currently developing new sensor technologies for both our traditional and new markets such as Air Quality Networks. The new low ppb series of electro-chemical sensors has been developed in association with a UK Government project (MESSAGE - Mobile Environmental Sensing System Across a Grid Environment) along with a number of prestigious Universities. Field trials have been already conducted by these Universities with great success using Alphasense low ppb sensors in mobile phones, portable and fixed units, whilst a final trial is on-going at Heathrow Airport showing tremendous results. Alphasense is unique in both the level of support and consistency of product it supplies to its OEM customers, with enviably minimum warranty returns, linked to virtually 100% on time delivery.”
