World’s first galvanic lead-free oxygen sensor for industrial safety applications

08 Jan, 2026

Alphasense proudly introduces the world’s first galvanic lead-free oxygen sensor (O2-A2-GLF) for industrial safety applications.

The O2-A2-GLF sensor is engineered as a direct replacement for existing two-pin oxygen sensors used in portable and fixed gas instruments. It is designed to deliver reliable performance in demanding industrial environments, maintaining accuracy during variations in pressure and temperature. This makes it ideal for critical safety applications where durability and robustness are vital.

“This development provides instrument manufacturers with a practical solution to meet evolving environmental regulations, including the anticipated expiration of RoHS exemptions in 2027,” said Ronan Baron, Technology Director at Alphasense. “The sensor offers proven accuracy, fast response time, and 2-year operational life under typical industrial conditions, making it ideal for safety and industrial applications. This new sensor is a drop-in replacement for any A-sized lead-based safety oxygen sensor including Alphasense’s industry standard O2-A2 oxygen sensors.”

This lead-free, patent-pending technology delivers a RoHS-compliant solution that eliminates toxic lead and supports environmental responsibility. Built on Alphasense’s proven, patent-pending design platform, it provides continuous, reliable performance without the risk of electrolyte leaks.

Designed for easy integration, it is a drop-in replacement for traditional lead-based, 2-pin, zero-bias safety oxygen sensors. Backed by 30 years of expertise, Alphasense’s new O2-A2-GLF oxygen sensor ensures easy adoption, enhanced worker safety, and long-term reliability.

The O2-A2-GLF oxygen sensors are now available worldwide.
