Precision emissions monitoring for tomorrow’s wastewater standards

02 Sep, 2025

With the revised EU Urban Wastewater Directive coming into effect in January 2025, treatment plants face stricter limits on phosphorus and nitrogen, along with a new requirement to monitor trace substances and greenhouse gases such as nitrous oxide (N₂O).

smartGAS’s SILAREX WWE sensor system is designed to meet these demands, providing high-precision, multi-gas analysis for CO₂, CH₄, and N₂O in biological treatment stages. An integrated humidity sensor ensures precise readings, while cross-sensitivity and pressure compensation reduce interference. Fast-Mode response times of under four seconds deliver real-time data to support process optimisation.

Standard ranges include CO₂ (0–4 Vol%, 0–10 Vol%), CH₄ (500 ppm, 1000 ppm) and N₂O (300 ppm, 1000 ppm), with custom options available.

Applications include wastewater monitoring, environmental greenhouse gas reporting, and industrial process control. The robust and easy-to-integrate SILAREX WWE helps users achieve compliance, enhance efficiency, and support sustainability goals.
