SGX Sensortech (UK), specialist designers and manufacturers of gas sensors and x-ray detectors, has launched an advanced electronic module – a move that will provide its customers with a higher level of sensor.

It provides users with a simple method of incorporating an SGX infrared sensor into their gas detection instrument, significantly reducing the development time and expertise required during the design phase.

Developed at SGX’s Industrial Gas Sensor division in Chelmsford, UK, the Smart IR features the necessary electronics and embedded software to send the linearised and temperature compensated concentration via digital (32-bit) and analogue (14-bit) outputs.

Other key features of the Smart IR include: full fault diagnostics; gas sensor temperature monitoring; operational from a low voltage DC power supply and configuration unit and PC software for easy control, evaluation and sensor calibration.
