Environnement SA (France), in cooperation with the Laboratory of Physics and Chemistry of the Environment and Space (LPC2E) of the CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), have developed a fully-optical and patented* particle analyser providing continuous information on the concentration, size and the nature of inhalable particles (TSP, PM10, PM2.5, PM1). Completely autonomous, automatic and capable of detecting short events with high precision, the CPA (Continuous Particulate Analyser) provides real-time access to measurement parameters. This process previously required the use of expensive laboratory instrumentation such as mass spectroscopy, chromatography and microbalance equipment. This unique instrument will reduce by up to 10 times, the actual expenses, required to obtain the relative information.

An instrument capable of measuring simultaneously and continuously all types of particles, the CPA also provides real-time information on the nature of the particles, allowing for differentiation between "natural" and industrial pollution.

Simple to install and use, the CPA possesses a smart and automatic adjustment system integrated. The CPA requires very low maintenance and no consumables. Equipped with a large colour touch screen and the new interface developed by Environnement SA, using the latest web technologies, makes the CPA controllable remotely from any computer, tablet or iPhone. The CPA employs a unique combination of technologies essential for the monitoring of air quality.
