See More with the New Thermal Imager
Jan 01 2000
The new testo 880 by testo Germany) offers top technology for building and industrial thermography in a new price dimension.
With roughly 20,000 measurement values, exactly 160 x 120 pixels interpolated to 320 x 240 pixels, the thermal imager testo 880 allows reliable diagnoses on a crystal clear 3.5“ display. The screen is fully used without any limitations due to menus.
The visibility of even the smallest temperature diffferences is guaranteed primarily by high-quality germanium optics with optimum IR exploitation. The perfectly developed electronics for the optimum utilization of the detector, and the thermal resolution of < 0.1 °C, i.e. the relative accuracy between the pixels (NETD), provide top-quality, high-definition images. The standard 32° wide angle lens can be exchanged for a 12° telephoto lens. This offers flexibility in adapting the testo 880 to the different sizes and distances of measuring objects. For use in tough conditions, an IR protective glass, also made of germanium, protects the lens from dust and scratches.
The low minimum focus distance of 10 cm for small objects is unusual among infrared thermal imagers. An additional digital camera allows real image photography to complement the IR recordings. Linked using an image-in-image function, this facilitates fast, secure and easy documentation. The presentation of surface moisture using dynamic humidity measurement and calculation of the parameters for the fast localization of mould risk spots is also unique in the field of building thermography. A connected humidity probe from the Testo range allows the measurement of humidity in real time.
User-friendly
The easy handling also contributes to perfect results. This includes one-hand operation thanks to the dynamic motor focus with patented technology, and a five-way joystick for navigating through the menu and the image gallery. Two programmable fast selection buttons allow quick access to the most important functions. The administration of the data is possible either simply directly in the camera or on a PC using the software included in delivery. It allows extensive analysis possibilities and easy creation of reports. The new testo 880 comes in three different instrument versions, each with a range of functions and features tailored to the respective area of application.
The portable thermal imagers are used in building inspections as well as in preventive service and maintenance. They are used for monitoring building and production as well as for technical diagnostics. A thermal imager detects anomalies, thus making the search for errors and the early implementation of correctional measures possible. It checks materials and components completely without any damage and exposes problem zones before a malfunction can occur. While other methods require production to be halted, or pipe systems to be dismantled, with the testo 880 a single glance is sufficent.
