WTW, a Xylem brand (Germany) have now successfully implemented the optical reagent-free measurement principle (OptRF) of the proven WTW online spectral sensors into the new photoLab 7600 UV-VIS spectrophotometers. Thus, the parameters COD, Nitrate and Nitrite in municipal wastewater plant effluent waters can be measured spectrally, without need for any photometric reagent, and the values can be read out directly.
The advantages are obvious: Cost-free, since no reagents or chemicals are required, Faster that any digestion, Environmentally friendly and non-hazardous to health, since no aggressive substances are used, e.g. potassium dichromate or sulphuric acid.
Even though photometric test sets will remain indispensable for referencing and self-control according to legal regulations, OptRF lends itself as a fast and cost-free option for quick daily monitoring, sample verification and preliminary tests of the expected measuring range.
The new photometer further supports all kind of special applications by extended custom programming options and a new, PC-driven colour measurement. It is a versatile instrument for many applications ranging from environmental and water analysis to industrial use, from research and education to food and beverage industry.
For users who do not require the OptRF measurement, UV range and colour measurement, the model photoLab 7100 VIS is offered.
