Following its debut as the region partnering Wasser Berlin International 2013 the Middle East is due to play an important role at Wasser Berlin International 2015.

Wasser Berlin International and the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA), which was set up in 2009, have agreed a strategic partnership. The association represents 17 Arab countries and regions. They are Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Mauritania, Libya, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, the Palestinian territories, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, Oman and Yemen. The association is based in Amman, Jordan, which is also where the third Arab Water Week will be taking place from 10 to 14 January 2015.

The members of the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association all face the same water issues, such as a lack of water resources, population growth, the emergence of large conurbations, an inadequate water supply and wastewater disposal infrastructure, and the inability of water rates to recover costs, all this against a backdrop of high investment costs and a shortfall in specialist workers.

Khaldon Khashman, secretary-general of the Arab Countries Water Utilities Association (ACWUA): “For us, Wasser Berlin International is the perfect match, not only because of the fair’s wide range of exhibitors and its international dimension, but also because of the supporting congress, which in our case is a major attraction. The association regards itself as a regional platform for knowledge transfer and for advising on best practices.”

At Wasser Berlin International 2015 the association will be organising a combined display of its affiliated Arab countries as well as visits by high-ranking delegations to the fair.

The official deadline for exhibitor registration is 1 October 2014. Registration forms are available online at www.wasser-berlin.de/Aussteller-Service
