Celebrating World Water Day
Mar 08 2011
The Eastern Area of the Institute of Water (UK) is celebrating World Water Day with a breakfast meeting. The event which will be held on Tuesday 22 March from 8am at the George Hotel in Huntingdon will consider ‘The Customer Experience.’
Dr Liz Sharp from the University of Bradford will consider the importance of customer engagement in water conservation strategies. Liz is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Governance and Management. Her contemporary research focuses on urban water management, and the ways that more sustainable management of water could deliver a living environment which is both socially and ecologically better than our contemporary cities.
Rachael Dyson, Corporate Responsibility Manager at Anglian Water will discuss how the company is promoting water saving behaviour through a new campaign. The ‘Love Every Drop’ campaign looks to put water at the heart of a new way of sustainable living. It is about helping people understand the realities of water use and climate change in the region, where more people and even less rain could make filling the kettle and doing the washing a challenge for everyone.
“International World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating the sustainable management of fresh water resources,” said the Institute of Water’s chief executive, Lynn Cooper.
“The Institute is very pleased to be celebrating the day with a thought provoking seminar, delivered by two very interesting speakers.”
