The new Cogent (UK) offices in Cambridge were visited by a party of 12 Korean visitors recently, representing The Ministry of the Environment, National Institute of Environmental research, Youngsan River Basin Authority, Daegu Provincial Environmental Office, Korean Environmental Corporation, Inchon City River Department, Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and Sangji University.

The purpose of the visit was to gain knowledge of the British water industry’s approach to the handling of pollution, particularly related to surface ground water. The delegation was also interested in discussing current legislation and future developments for the British water industry including technologies for monitoring and analysing pollutants in water.

The delegation was headed by Mr Ja Kwan Hu, Deputy Director of the Water Environment Management Bureau of the Ministry of Environment. After a brief introduction about the mission by Mr Hu, Neil Townend the General Manager of new Modern Water division MW Monitoring, welcomed the visitors and introduced speakers from various sectors of the industry who included Mrs Lila Thompson, International Director of British Water, Mr Andrew Chappell of the Environment Agency and Dr Adam Brookes of Anglian Water.

After an informative session, Neil Townend presented MW Monitoring and introduced the Cogent range of heavy metal analysers and the Cymtox range of toxicity monitors. This was followed by a practical demonstration of the Cogent equipment and a guided tour of the Anglian Water Cambridge WWTW.
