Intelligent Monitoring System for VOCs Analysis in Air or Water – Water Pollution Detection Application

The airmoPurge analyser from Chromatotec (France) is an autonomous VOCs monitoring system used for liquid matrices. The analytical solution is an automatic Gas Chromatograph based technology (autoGC) dedicated for specific application for drinking water distribution systems, water source and water distribution protection. In addition the same equipment can be used alternatively for liquid or air monitoring thanks to the software included on the embedded PC. VOCs are extracted in line from water and analyzed continuously with FID, PID or combined PID, ELCD modular detectors to be fully compliant with US EPA 502.2 method if requested.

According to customer needs, it offers VOCs quantification in water from 36 to 60 molecules according to technology used with hydrocarbons detection down to parts-per-trillion (ppt levels)

This unique solution integrates standard detectors without specific gas needed as gas generators can be provided. No needs of gas cylinders for carrier gas or calibration as the system integrates automatic calibration using permeation tube for data validation. The standalone system provides valid data anywhere, anytime thanks to remote data access.

Recently, the system allowed to avoid river water contamination from thermic energy plant by detecting abnormal hydrocarbons concentration due to spilled oil on site combined with rain effects. The intelligent system gave alarms in parallel to stop the valve to avoid the reject water to the natural environment.
