A new treatment plant located in Comines in north France will minimise the effect of one company's manufacturing process on local
water quality, according to the firm.
Glyn Jagger, managing director at Holliday Pigments, said that the liquid treatment factory reduces impact on the environment and water pumping into the river Lys.
His comments follow the company's €2 million (£1.8 million) investment in the effluent plant at its ultramarine manufacturing site, which complies with European
environmental legislation and is the largest of its kind in the world.
New air pollution control devices will be installed to help control the factory's gas emissions, with the new plant being capable of treating double the current volume of effluent.
"Operating alongside the effluent treatment plant, we are confident these measures will vastly improve the air and
water quality of the surrounding area," stated Mr Jagger.
Holliday Pigments manufactures ultramarine and manganese violet pigments and has been established for over 120 years.
