The CS230, from Campbell Scientific (UK), is a temperature profiler which uses SDI-12 digital technology for simple integration and reliability. The CS230 consists of a rigid probe assembly and up to four optional external temperature probes. The rigid probe assembly maintains the precise position of the temperature points within the profile, while protecting the temperature sensors in all mediums for the long-term.

The probe assembly is completely sealed and external probes permit the CS230 to be used in roadbeds, soils, and water including snow and ice. Example applications include spring load adjustment, frost and permafrost monitoring, soil, and water or snowpack temperature profiling.

The probe requires no calibration and is low power, making it ideal for remote applications. The measurement spacing can be customised at ordering to optimise the probe for a given application.
