Honeywell (UK) have announced the launch of Sensepoint XCD, an internationally certified gas detector that offers a number of robust solutions for the detection of flammable, toxic and oxygen gases in potentially

explosive atmospheres.

Sensepoint XCD offers excellent flexibility and is suited to a wide range of industrial applications. The device can detect flammable, toxic or Oxygen gases in a 3-wire 4-20mA format with relay outputs. This wiring configuration makes the Sensepoint XCD ideal for retrofitting other older generations of Honeywell Analytics gas detectors including the 1050 series, Series 2000 Flammable, the Sensepoint Pro as well as many

other models.

Suitable for use in both internal and external hazardous industrial areas, Sensepoint XCD operation can be modified using the LCD and magnet switches without ever needing to open the unit. This enables one man, non-intrusive, operation and reduces routine maintenance time and costs.

Sensepoint XCD is optimised for easy operation and the device’s tri-colour backlit LCD clearly indicates the unit’s status at a glance - even from a distance; a steady green backlight indicates normal operation, flashing yellow indicates fault and flashing red indicates an alarm.

For additional ease of use, all detectors are supplied pre configured and include two programmable alarm relays, one programmable fault relay as well as an industry standard 4-20mA output (sink or source selectable).

Sensepoint XCD is designed to maximise uptime, whilst also reducing costs; the device uses plug in sensors that can be easily replaced, and on-going costs are also minimised through the use of poison resistant flammable sensors, poison immune infrared hydrocarbon sensors and patented Surecell™ toxic electrochemical sensors.

Onboard diagnostics provide valuable information during operation and fault finding routines. In addition patented ‘Reflex’ toxic sensor test algorithms ensure sensing

elements are fitted and operational at all times.

Sensepoint XCD is certified for use in hazardous areas by ATEX (European), IECEx (International) UL and CSA (North American). Other Asian approvals are also available.

Detectable gases include Flammable (catalytic), Methane (infrared), Carbon Dioxide (infrared), Oxygen, Hydrogen Sulphide, Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen (all electrochemical cells). Future additions will include: Ammonia, Chlorine, Nitrogen Monoxide, Nitrogen Dioxide and Sulphur Dioxide.
